The 2S1 Goździk is a Polish self-propelled artillery available to PACT forces.
Most Warsaw Pact nations rely on thie 2S1 SPG. The one variant portrayed above being, as has been said, the Polish variant, named 2S1 Goździk.[1]
History[]
The 2S1 Gvozdika (translated "Carnation") entered service in the Soviet Army in the early 70's, soon becoming the backbone of regimental self-propelled artillery in mechanized/armored regiments.
Based on a variant of the MT-LB's ubiquitous chassis, it mounts a modified D-30 field howitzer (122mm) in a 360° turret. Mobile and cheap, it provides Soviet armies with light artillery support.
It was also widely distributed among Warsaw Pact countries, especially Poland & Czechoslovakia which both produced it locally.
Each Armored/Mechanized Regiment were equipped with a Self-propelled battery or a battery equipped with towed D-30.
