The 2S1 Gvozdika (Russian:Гвоздика, meaning"Carnation") is a Soviet Self-Propelled Artillery that first appears in Wargame: AirLand Battle.
History[]
2S1 Gvozdika is a Soviet self-propelled howitzer based on the MT-LB chassis which mounts a 122mm 2A18 howitzer. It was developed in Kharkov as the means to provide Soviet units with mobile firepower, intended to destroy enemy manpower, artillery and fortifications.
The first prototype was finished in 1958, while the actual model entered service with the Soviet Armed Forces in the early 1970s. Each Tank Regiment and the Motor Rifle Regiment equipped with BMP were planned to have a battalion of 2S1 in 1980, but with shortage in production, each regiment only received a battery at least. The Naval Infantry Brigade, Tank Brigade and Independent Motor Rifle Brigade were also planned to a self-propelled artillery battalion.
The mass-production of the 2S1 Gvozdika ran from 1971 until 1991. The vehicle was also license-produced in Poland (from 1971) and Bulgaria (from 1979). With more than 10 thousand made, it was widely exported and participated in many major conflicts. Until now, it is still being deployed in some areas in direct fire roles as provided tank killers.
Overview[]
Red Dragon
Because the firing rate is basically the same as that of more advanced howitzers, while slightly lower HE Power has little difference in combating light or unarmored units, 2S1 Gvozdika may have unexpected effects when the quantity is sufficient.
However, due to the fact that dispersion is essentially a hard wound, players should still rely on 2S19 or other MLRS under normal circumstances.
Weapons[]
The "Accuracy" for Howitzer weapon stands for "Dispersion".
