The 2S23 Nona-SVK is a Soviet Mortar Carrier that first appears in Wargame: AirLand Battle.
History[]
2S23 Nona-SVK is a self-propelled mortar system based on the BTR-80 chassis and actually has the ability to fire while moving. It is said that only about 60 vehicles were produced. These were used to replaced towed 120mm mortars in Mortar Rifle Battalion's mortar battery.
Overview[]
The cost-effectiveness is slightly lower, mainly due to the high speed (which is rarely used) and impractical HEAT main gun occupied certain points. The reserve ammunition is limited, so the firepower sustainability is not as good as 82mm mortars (e.g. MT-LB Podnos).
Although the HE Power of 5 is quite impressive, its firing rate is less than half that of the 82mm mortars. Nona-SVK needs 8 seconds to aim and 4 seconds to reload one shot (twice than 82mm mortars); Its salvo length is 3.
It should be noticed that the coverage range of 120mm smoke rounds is larger than 82mm ones.
