AH-6C Little Bird is a gunship helicopter that first appeared in Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
With the April 1980 failure of Operation Eagle Claw, US Army determined that the US military lacked crews and aircraft that were equipped and trained for Special Operations. This special task force was named Task Force 160 which becomes 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment of today.
The creators of the task force saw a need for a small helicopter to to land in the most restrictive locations and that was also easily transported on Air Force transport aircraft. OH-6A scout helicopter was chosen to fill the role. Along with the transport version a attack variant was created.
With the retention of Task Force 160, the armed AH-6 were placed in the Light Attack Company.
AH-6 first saw combat in Operation Urgent Fury and saw action in Nicaragua, Operations Prime Chance, Just Cause, Gothic Serpent, Iraqi Freedom and Celestial Balance.
