Recon vehicles fulfill the same role as any other recon units. However, they have better stealth rating(medium) unlike vehicles in any other tab. This makes armed recon vehicles very well suited for defense as they can fire without being detected if the enemy brought only limited recon unit of his own. with the addition of recon tanks this mechanism has been exploited in tank combats with units such as Leopard 1-V Verkenning, M-84AN and T-55 Pionpsv as in absence of enemy recon nearby, they can fire at enemy tanks with impunity.
