The F-100D Super Sabre is a ground attack aircraft available to Denmark.

History[]

The North American F-100 Super Sabre is a single-engine, single-seat, supersonic multi-role aircraft first introduced to the United States Air Force in 1954. The F-100D was developed to address shortcomings with the F-100C as a bomber variant of the Super Sabre. It was given better avionics, an autopilot system, compatibility with the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile, and eventually, the AGM-12 Bullpup air-to-surface missile. Physical changes to the aircraft included a 26-inch expansion of the wing span and increased vertical tail area. Denmark first received the F-100D in 1959 with 48 delivered. These replaced F-84G Thunderjet. These were used by three squadrons 725 Sqn stationed in Karup AB and 727 Sqn and 739 Sqn stationed in Skrydstrup AB. F-100D were replaced by F-16 and F-35 Draken.

Overview[]

Red Dragon[]

The F-100D is a relatively inexpensive light strike aircraft available to Danish and BLUFOR decks. The type is armed with four 20mm cannons and 76 70mm rockets. The type is good for attacking lightly armored vehicles and infantry, but is especially vulnerable to both surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles due to its lack of ECM, and no missiles of its own to respond with.
