Available to BLUFOR decks, the General Dynamics F-111G is an ANZAC tactical bomber.
History[]
The General Dynamics F-111G Aardvark was developed to plug operational gaps in European operations left by the withdrawl of BGM-109 Tomahawk and MGM-31 Pershing ground-launched missiles. The F-111G is a reconfiguration of the FB-111A with adaptations for cruise missiles with nuclear and non-nuclear warheads. Australia bought 15 F-111G's in 1993 to augment their F-111C's
These were used in RAAF in No. 6 Squadron entering service in 1993 and leaving in 2007.
Overview[]
The F-111G is a Naval, anti-ship variant of the F-111 used by ANZAC forces. It features slightly improved ECM (20%) compared to the F-111C and four AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, expressly for anti-ship purposes. Its high speed and Fire and Forget weapon compliment allow the F-111G to shoot at enemy ships without leaving itself exposed for long to return fire. The F-111G is, however, fairly expensive, and its ECM is mediocre for an aircraft of its cost, leaving the F-111G more vulnerable to long-range SAMs and AAMs. The aircraft has no AAMs for defense, and fighter escort is highly recommended if enemy air assets are anticipated to be in the F-111G's area of operations.
