The Gornostrelki '90 is the later era varient of Gornostrelki light infantry that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
Gornostrelki were either VDV airborne troops, motor rifle troops or Spetsnaz on mountain operations. After World War II, Soviet Union's primary source of mountain infantry came from VDV which were trained in mountain warfare, During the Soviet's Afghanistan War some Motor Rifle formations were trained in mountain warfare. The only unit formed for mountain warfare was 68th independent Motorised Rifle Brigade formed in 6.81 with two BMP-1 battalions and two mounted in GAZ-66.
The 9K115-2 Metis-M is an anti-tank missile system developed by the Instrumentation Design Bureau (Tula) and adopted for service in 1992. The "9K115-2" is the GRAU designation of the missile system while its NATO reporting name is AT-13 Saxhorn-2. The system is designed to augment the combat power of company-level motorized units and replace the previously created second generation systems "Metis", "Fagot", "Contest".[1]
Overview[]
The Gornostrelki was designed as Regular Training in-game, while small arms same with the 10-point Motostrelki also result in the same anti-infantry capability.
Although Metys-M has a powerful 26 AP Power and 55% Accuracy (which are higher than Konkurs-M's 23/50%), the Gornostrelki '90 is prone to a decrease in Accuracy during combat due to low morale caused by Regular Training. They will be an important anti-tank force in airborne decks, but the difficulty of use will be high, and they will not be very competitive in the unspecialized decks.
