The Hóng Qí or HQ-7 (紅旗七號飛彈, Red Banner) is a Chinese short-range air defense missile that first appeared in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

As its appearance suggests, the HQ-7 air defense missile is developed based on the French Crotale missile, including the carrier vehicle (P4R, replaced on later models). Its development began in 1980, and the design was finalized in 1988. The HQ-7 is available in two versions; the shelter-mounted version used by the PLAAF and self-propelled version used by the PLA ground forces.

The export version FM-80 was first revealed in the 1989 Dubai Aerospace Show. Later in 1998 China National Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CNPMIEC) introduced an improved variant FM-90 featuring fast and longer-range missile and infrared camera to compliment the TC tracking camera.

Overview[]

The vehicle shares the same in-game stats with French Crotale. It is one of the best air defense units in the game, mainly used to against enemy helicopters.
