The Type 87 CRV, or Hachi-Nana Shiki (87式偵察警戒車 87-Shiki teisatsu keikai-sha) is a Japanese armored reconnaissance vehicle equipped with a 25mm autocannon that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon
History[]
After WW2, the US provided the Japanese Self Defense Force with modified M8 Greyhounds, however, in a relatively small number due to the poor condition and quality of the Japanese roads. By 1982, the Japanese infrastructure had improved by a long time due to the economic miracle. It motivated the JSDF to create their first AFV by the Japanese industry for the JSDF.
This resulted in the successful Type 82 "Shikitsu" CV. Tests for the Type 87 then began in 1985, with a finished model being completed by Komatsu which is based on the Type 82.
These were used in the reconnaissance Group of the Division along with Headquarters Management Company Reconnaissance Platoon of some tank regiments.

- The full name of this combat vehicle is Reconnaissance Combat Vehicle, CRV is a misidentification acronym as CRV would suggest a Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle, an entirely different support vehicle in the JSDF service.
