Available to NATO forces, the Jäger is the regular infantry squad for West Germany. While not as effective as the Panzergrenadier units favoured by many players, they are still useful as a cheap infantry solution to many problems.
History[]
Jägertruppe (Lit. hunter troops) were light infantry units formed during the cold war by the Bundeswehr as an answer to gaps in the "Armored-showdown in the Fulda Gap" line of thinking. Specifically raised to fight in areas where large armored formations can't, such as rough or urban terrain, these units were converted to "traditional" Panzergrenadier units, converted to home guard units, or dissolved entirely after the Berlin Wall fell.
They share a common name and ancestry with light skirmishers from the 18th and 19th century (who were formed from hunters and foresters to act as scouts), as well as infantry formations from the Imperial German army and the Wehrmacht of WWII fame. Jager saw themselves as an elite unit akin to US Army Rangers, and their pride was shown in their appearance. They were known for their bright green beret with gold badge, which was patterned after the WWII units sleeve insignia.
Each of the Field Divisions has two non-active Jäger battalions. While 6th Panzergrenadier Division had two semi-active Jäger battalions. These were mounted in trucks and upgraded to Fuchs with the 6th Panzergrenadier Division's Jäger battalions using M113. The Territorial Army has 5 series Heimatschutz brigades which has one motorized Jager battalion and one Heavy battalion equipped with M113. 6 series Heimatschutz brigades has two motorized jaeger battalions.
The organization of the divisional Jägerbataillon (battalion of Jäger) consisted of 5 companies: A command company, 3 infantry companies, and a heavy weapons company, which carried Milan anti-tank weapons (sometimes), 20mm field guns and 120 mortars. It had no organic Air defense or Anti-air capability. Jäger infantry units were in reality armed with G3 rifes, MG3 Medium Machine guns and Panzerfaust 44 anti-tank weapons, as opposed to the blindicide depicted.
Gebirgsjäger, Feldjäger and Fallschirmjäger (Mountain troops, military police and paratroopers) are not the same despite the inclusion of "Jäger" in the name.

Similar to the Fusiliers in rifle ability, the Jägers fire the infamous G3 battle rifle, just like all other West German infantry units, it may have the lowest fire rate out of many other weapons in Wargame, however, it deals very-high damage. Coupled with the Jagers excellent infantry hunting skills means that they are extremely effective assualt infantry. Their LAW accuracy however isn't terrible but slightly better than Fusiliers, causing them to die after retaliation from ambushed armoured units. Buying them with M113 is a impractical, the Fuchs is a good choice for fast infiltrations on roads or in open terrain. 32 units can be fielded in a battle, making them available as a strong force. Remember though that they can and will miss some LAW shots. Still a good choice.
Red Dragon[]
After the cost of Jäger nerfed to 15, its cost-effectiveness has decreased, resulting in its performance being inferior to the allied nation's infantry in Eurocorps, LANDJUT or Dutch-German Corps.
