The JH-7 Feibao (Chinese: 飞豹, meaning "Flying Leopard") is a Chinese Multirole Combat Aircraft that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon. It is the Naval Support verison of JH-7 and marked as Pact aircraft in the arsenal.
History[]
The JH-7 is a twin-engine, two-seat, supersonic multi-role fighter developed by Xi'an for the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force and Navy. Its genesis started in the early 1970's, when the PLAAF established the requirement for a new fighter-bomber to replace the H-5 and and Q-5 (Chinese produced variants of the IL-28 and MiG-19, respectively). Authorized to begin in 1983, the PLAAF wound up dropping out of the program in the 1980's, but development continued for the PLANAF for use as an anti-shipping fighter bomber (the JH-7A would be introduced into PLAAF arsenals in 2004). The JH-7's first prototype flew in 1988 and it was introduced to PLANAF arsenals in 1992.

The JH-7 Feibao is a multi-role combat aircraft with a primary anti-shipping role available to Chinese and REDFOR decks. It carries an internal GSh-6-23 gatling-type cannon, two Yingji-82K anti-ship missiles and four PL-11 semi-active air to air missiles. This armament allows the JH-7A to defend itself against enemy fighters while it is en-route to its target, and in a pinch, to attack helicopters or strafe ground units. The Yingji-82K has good range range, fair AP power and exceptional accuracy. The type features very good ECM, which is necessary especially for engaging command class ships.
The major drawbacks of the JH-7 Feibao are its small anti-ship missile compliment and the performance of its PL-11 missile. Given the aircraft's role as an anti-shipping aircraft, the carriage of only two ASM's makes it such that multiple JH-7's or a general anti-ship strike package of several aircraft will be needed to effectively attack command-class ships with CIWS. Also, while the type does carry air-to-air missiles for defense, the PL-11 is semi-active and comparable to earlier variants of the AIM-7 with poor range and fair accuracy. As such, a fighter escort should still be considered when sortieing the JH-7 if enemy aircraft are anticipated.
