The LAAD Javelin is an anti-aircraft team for the United Kingdom in the Wargame series, it was first introduced in Wargame: AirLand Battle. It is a major improvement over the LAAD Blowpipe.
History[]
Javelin was a updated Blowpipe. Instead of the MCLOS of the Blowpipe, Javelin was a semi-automatic command to line of sight with the operator guiding the missile by putting the gunsight pointed at the target.
The Armored Divisional Artillery Group has three Artillery Regiments along with a Blowpipe Battery which were updated to Javelin in early 1980 attached to one of the Artillery Regiment.
2nd Infantry Division has 103 (Lancashire Artillery Volunteers) Air Defence Regt RA (V) which has four batteries each with 16 Javelin. 24 Infantry Brigade has a troop from 21 (Gibraltar 1779-83) Air Defence Battery RA
5th Airborne Brigade's 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery has a P Troop equipped with Javelin.
4th Armored's 19 Brigade also has a troop from 21 (Gibraltar 1779-83) Air Defence Battery RA.
The Territorial Army Light Air Defense Regiments were equipped with Blowpipe then switch to Javelin in 1987.
3 Commando Brigade has a Air Defense Troop equipped with Blowpipe then Javelin on 1986.
