M40 Recoilless Rifle mounted on Jeeps served in the Anti-tank platoon of the infantry battalions.
M40 Recoilless Rifle were replaced starting in 1974 by TOW. With some reserve infantry battalions keeping the 106mm Recoilless Rifle in their anti-tank weapons.
