120 Leopard 1A3-DK entered Danish service in June 1974. These tank had extra stowage boxes and the deletion of the round close-defence weapon blanking plate on the top turret and exception of a periscope wipe system.
Tank Battalions in Jutland Division had replaced the Centurion tanks with Leopard 1 by 1980s. While the Zeeland Brigades gained Leopard 1A3 by 1989. The reconnaissance squadrons replaced their M41 with Leopard.
