The Liè Rén (Chinese: 猎人, meaning "Hunter") is a Chinese recon unit that first appeared in Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
This unit referred to some reconnaissance troops during the Sino-Vietnamese Border Conflict, while, although not at that time, some modern PLA units have the unofficial nickname "Hunters".
Before the PLA formally established modern-style special forces, it was the army and divisional recon battalions responsible for special operations, and they were considered the best troops of PLA. The army recon battalions at the time usually have 5 companies.
The Type 56-I is the underfolding stock version of Type 56 (AK-47). It is somewhat strange for it to pair with the Type 81 LMG as the latter is the heavy barrel version of the Type 81 Assault Rifle (QBZ-81), therefore there is no reason not to use updated assault rifles. Also, the Type 81 LMG standardly uses a drum magazine, which is different from the game icon.
The caliber of Type 69 LAW is actually marked as 40mm by PLA. The 69-I modification is developed in 1972, and the series production ceased in the mid-1980s. However, since Zhànshì '85 is also carrying the Type 69-I, the name "69-I" here should be refering the Type 69-I rocket (propelled grenade; the nomenclature in-game is like "RPG-7VR") that finalized in 1983, which has a penetration of 150mm/65º.
Overview and tactics[]
Liè Rén is a strong, shock-level, 10-man recon squad with Very Good Optics and Stealth. These characteristics make this unit a powerful generalist, good anti-infantry capabilities and a 20 AP LAW are perfect for pairing with WZ-551 and Z-9A to quickly control key positions at the beginning of combat. At the same time, 20 points is a very cost-effective price (although they will need good vehicles).
On the other hand, since North Korea Jeongchaldae is a 2-man sniper squad, Liè Rén is also the only choice in a sense.
