Livgarden is an infantry regiment of the Danish Army, founded in 1658 by King Frederik III. The regiment has fought in every Danish war since its creation.
Now days, the unit has two roles: first is a combat role serving as Mechanized Infantry, while the other role is providing ceremonial guards for the Danish Royal Family.
The 1st Battalion serves in 1st Zealand Brigade as a Mechanized Battalion while 1st Zealand Battle Group has 2nd Battalion and 3rd Battalion which serve as light infantry, 6th Territorial Region has 4th Battalion and the Guard company.
Danish Mechanized infantry battalion are combined arms formation with a tank squadron supporting two mechanized infantry companies along with a motorized company.
Carl Gustav was either a squad or platoon asset.
