The M113A1G is the West German variant of the American M113A1 APC. When the vehicle was first introduced in Wargame: Europe Escalation, its name was "M113GA1".

History[]

M113 entered service with German Bundeswehr in 1969. The M113 were converted to German requirements with the variants added the G to the name. Unlike their American counterparts the German M113 are usually armed with the MG3. These were originally used by the in Heeresstruktur 2 by Mannschaftstransportwagen mounted Panzergrenadier battalions.

In the late cold war Panzergrenadier battalions of the Panzergrenadier brigade has third company of M113 equipped Panzergrenadiers.

. 6th Panzergrenadier Division's two Jaegers Battalions were equipped with M113.

5 series of Heimatschutz brigades has a heavy Jaegers battalion mounted in M113.

Heimatschutzbrigade 51 which where directly attached to 6. Panzergrenadierdivision has their Jägerbataillons mounted on M113.

Overview[]

Basically useless, as other allied nations' infantry transport vehicles have higher armor but cost the same (e.g. AMX-13 VTT has 3 Front Armor).
