During the first deployment of M133A1 FSV to Vietnam in 1971, four were used in a Fire Support troop in A Squadron 3rd Cavalry Regiment. After two more M133A1 FSV were sent, the three reconnaissance troops were reorganized into two FSV supporting two to three M113A1. After Vietnam, FSV served in Regular cavalry service ending in 1979 then reserve cavalry squadrons with service ending in 1986. These were replaced by M113A1 MRV.
