M151A2 MUTT is a unarmed recon car that first appered in Wargame: European Escalation

Overview[]

  • At just 25 points, the M151A2 MUTT is a very cheap recon. Coupled with it's large number of reserves, it can easily be deployed in large numbers, thus covering any corner of your main combat force.
  • Being the M151 Jeep, it is very fast and has an extremely long range, due to it's extremely low fuel consumption (0.065 Liters per kilometer). This also means that it will practically place no strain on your logistics whatsoever.
  • For it's price, the M151A2 has very good optics. This, combined with it's small size, makes it a very good reconnaisance vehicle.
  • Downsides include it's total lack of protection or weaponry, thus making it completely reliant on the capabilities of your main combat units. One should ALWAYS keep the M151A2 at a safe distance.

History[]

The M151 is the successor to the Korean War M38 and M38A1 jeep Light Utility Vehicles. Commonly referred to as a "jeep" or "quarter-ton", it was produced from 1959 through 1982 and served in the Vietnam War. M151 were replaced in the most utility roles by the AM General HMMWV series.

M151A2 is an improvement in the M151 series. The A2 fielded a significantly revised rear suspension that greatly improved safety in fast cornering. The M151 now had Semi-trailing arm suspension comparable to what most late eighties premium German cars had. Many smaller upgrades including improved turn signals. The A2 can be identified by the large combination turn signal/blackout lights on the front fenders, which also had been modified to mount the larger lights, as opposed to earlier A1's that had flat front fenders.

The light infantry Battalion had the capability to mount their recon elements on M151s and HUMVEEs. The early Armored Cavalry Regiment had access to Jeep mounted scouts before the introduction of M113 and M114.
