The MD 500D Susong-Po is a ATGM Helicopter that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

In 1983-1985, North Korea had managed to circumvent a US export barrier by purchasing 87 MD 500s (102 in some sources) from a West German firm. After the US learned about the illegal action by the North Koreans, they moved to stop the West German firm from delivering more. It is reported that 60 MD 500s (87 in some sources) were smuggled into North Korea. Among the 87 helicopters, 20 are D-model, 66 are E-model, and 1 is C-model.

Because South Korea also manufactured MD 500s locally (OH-6), the modified North Korean helicopters could be used in infiltration, like in incursions past the DMZ. These MD 500s were finally revealed to the world on the parade of July 27th, 2013.

This one is mounted with locally produced 9M14 Malyutka (AT-3 Sagger) launchers.

Overview[]

The 4-Strength helicopters can be easily killed by even MANPADs.

Susong Po is an ATGM that also mounted on KPA IFVs. It only has a AP Power of 14, which cannot one-hit-kill even 1 Armor APCs. The other North Korean ATGM carried helicopters are Mi-25 and Mi-8 Gunship. The former is equipped with 4 rounds of Falanga which has a seemingly lower Accuracy (35%/20%) and higher AP Power (16), able to one-hit-kill 2 Armor APCs; While the latter is same Susong Po. Both of them have MGs and Rocket Pods.

For Red Dragons, just use Z-9A HJ-8.
