The Mirage F1CT is a French multi-role combat aircraft which first appeared in the Magna Carta DLC for Wargame: AirLand Battle.

History[]

The Mirage F1CT is a ground attack variant of the Mirage F1 family, based on the F1C-200. The F1CT was developed after the F1C-200 was replaced in the air defense role by the Mirage 2000. Because of the number of surplus F1C-200's, the French Air Force decided to convert the aircraft into ground attack platforms to replace the aging Mirage IIIE and Mirage V fleets. The conversion program initiated in 1988, and saw the addition of ground attack modes to the F1C's radar, laser range finder and improved navigation and attack avionics, new ejection seats, improved radar homing and warning gear, and the addition of chaff and flare dispensers. The type was given compatibility with a number of bombs, rockets, and missiles, while still retaining the ability to carry and fire the F1C-200's basic aerial armament.

Overview[]

AirLand Battle[]

The Mirage F1CT is a prototype multi-role combat aircraft available to French decks. It carries a single DEFA 550 cannon, six BLG 66 anti-tank cluster bombs, and a pair of R.550 Magic II air to air missiles. Its good ECM provides a level of survivability against long range SAMs and AAMs, and the type is effective for attacking enemy armored columns. Its AAM and gun compliment allow the F1CT to attack enemy helicopters operating in its vicinity. The chief drawbacks of the Mirage F1CT are its cost, and lack of a long range missile. At 140 points per aircraft, the F1CT is not an insignificant loss if it is shot down. Also, while the type can effectively attack helicopters, it is out-gunned by the long range missiles carried by air superiority fighters, and so a fighter escort should be considered when striking targets over enemy territory.

Red Dragon[]

In Wargame: Red Dragon, the Mirage F1CT is largely unchanged. Its ECM is slightly improved (40%), and the BLG-66 it carries is slightly more powerful (AP 6) compared to its AirLand Battle configuration. The type costs 5 more points per aircraft to field, is no longer a prototype, and its strengths and weaknesses are largely the same in Red Dragon as in AirLand Battle.
