The Mirage F1C is an air superiority fighter for France that was first introduced in Wargame: AirLand Battle.

History[]

The Mirage F1C is a single-engine, single-seat, supersonic multi-role fighter developed by Dassault as a successor to the Mirage III family. The Mirage F1 family started as a private venture by Dassault, based on the Dassault F2 attack fighter prototype. Following 1967, work on the F2 was abandoned, and Dassault focused on the F1. The French Air Force required a new all-weather interceptor, and the F1 was equipped with a Thompson-CSF Cyrano IV monopulse radar and made compatible with the Matra R530 missile. First delivered in 1973, the Mirage F1C received wing-tip pylons for compatibility with the Matra 550 Magic missile in 1977 and the Super 530F in 1979. The F1 series was well exported, and served in 14 different nations' air forces.

Overview[]

AirLand Battle[]

The Mirage F1 C is a moderately priced air superiority fighter available to French and NATO decks. Armed with twin DEFA 550 cannons, two Super 530F missiles and two R.550 Magic missiles, the Mirage F1 C provides cost-effective aerial combat capabilities. The Mirage F1 C's major drawbacks are its weak ECM and its relatively small missile compliment. Apart from only carrying two longer range missiles, its Super 530F, while accurate, has a poor maximum range. The type is semi-active, requiring the Mirage F1 to continue flying towards its target until impact, as well. At 95 points per aircraft, however, the Mirage F1 C provides decent air combat capabilities for its cost.

Red Dragon[]

The Mirage F1C in Wargame: Red Dragon is a French Air Superiority fighter available to French and BLUFOR decks. It carries the same loadout, but has received a small bump up in ECM to 20%. Its strengths and weaknesses are largely the same as in AirLand Battle.
