The Mistral is an anti-aircraft team for France that is available in Wargame: Red Dragon. The missile has longer range than a Stinger, and the squad is comprised of five soldiers, so it is not as stealthy or fragile as similar squads.

History[]

Mistral is an infrared homing surface-to-air missile manufactured by the European multinational company MBDA missile systems (formerly by Matra BAe Dynamics). The missile that will become Mistral started development in 1974 with deployment in 1988 for the first version (S1) and 1997 for the second version (M2).

When it came to operation in wars, it has only been used by Rwanda in the Second Congo War and missiles are being sent to Ukraine during the 2022 Invasion of Ukraine, with missiles being supplied from Norway. The missile system is operated by Austria, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Colombia, Cyprus, Ecuador, Estonia, France, Georgia, Hungary, Indonesia, India, Kenya, Lebanon, Norway, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Ukraine and Venezuela.

The Armored and Infantry Division has 12 Mistral systems. While the typical light armored division has 48 Mistral systems. These were stationed in the artillery regiment.
