The Niebieskie Berety (Polish: "Blue Berets") are a Polish infantry unit that was introduced in Wargame: AirLand Battle.
History[]
In the fall of 1958, using the people and equipment of the disassembled 3rd and 5th Coastal Defense Brigade, the 23rd Infantry Division was created according to the No. 2 / 235-2 / 249, which took over the tasks of the dissolved brigades. In January 1963, it was reorganized to an amphibious division. Initially, it was planned that the 23rd Infantry Division will be reformed into a mechanized division. However, this intention was abandoned due to the adopted concept of establishing the Polish Front planned for activities at the seaside. The division was to be used in combat operations of sea landing. The 23rd Landing Division was created on the basis of the units of the 23rd Infantry Division and the 3rd Marine Regiment transferred from the Navy. In October 8, 1963, the division was renamed the 7th Lusatian Landing Division. 7th Lusatian Landing Division had three Regiments 4th Pomerania Assault Regiment , 34th Budziszyński Assault Regiment and 35th Gdańsk Assault Regiment. These regiments were battalion strength formations with three companies mounted in TOPAS along with a tank company equipped with PT-76.
This division was reduced to 7th Łużycka Coastal Defence Brigade in 1986.
