The Olifant Mk1A is a variant tank of the Olifant Mk1 that is available to South Africa and appears in Wargame Red Dragon.
History[]
Olifant Mk1A is a upgrade of the Olifant Mk 1 with a improved fire control system and passive night vision sight along with a laser range finder. Range was increased by fuel-efficiency and larger fuel tanks. Firepower was increased with a locally made L7 replacing the old 20-pdr. First production started in 1983 with 153 made.
These were used by Regular School of Armour's Tank Wing and the reserve Pretoria Regiment, Natal Mounted Rifles and President Steyn and deployed in combat in squadron strength in the battalion group.
