The PT-71 is an armored recon vehicle for the Soviet Union, it is an upgrade for the PT-76B and was first introduced in Wargame: European Escalation.
History[]
PT-71 was a prototype upgrade to the PT-76B with Malyutka launchers. Only one PT-76B was upgraded.
In late 1964, tests were carried out for equipping existing Soviet armor with 9M14 Malyutka wire-guided anti-tank missiles. One of these was a PT-76B, which got equipped with a special launcher for said missile. After trials were undertaken at the NIIBIT proving grounds, the PT-76B system was dropped due to its unreliability. It is sometimes referred to as PT-71, however, there is no proof of it being called this officially and is plausibly a confusion (its Year was marked as 1971 in-game).

Adds a 4xMCLOS to armament. The missiles are not very accurate and low in ammo, making it a questionable investment. On the other hand, for only a tiny price increase, the PT-76 gains some AT capability.
