The Piechota Zmech. (shortening of "Piechota Zmechanizowana" - Mechanised Infantry) are the main line infantry of Poland in the Wargame series. They first appeared in Wargame: European Escalation.
History[]
The Piechota Zmech is Poland's mechanized infantry. Like their Soviet models each Tank Division had a Mechanized Regiment mounted in tracked vehicles like TOPAS and BWP-1. While the Mechanized Division has two Mechanized Regiment mounted in wheeled vehicles like SKOT-2 along with a tracked mounted Mechanized Regiment. The mechanized regiments in lower-category Divisions got BWP-1 after increased native production of BWP-1. Only 62 BWP-2 entered Polish service with 60 being sent to in 1 Pułk Zmechanizowany of the 1 Warszawska Dywizja Zmechanizowana.
Most Warsaw Pact nations switch from belt fed PKM in the Rifle Squads to magazine fed RPK with Polish Rifle Squads keeping the belt fed PKM as their squad machine guns.

The Piechota Zmech is Poland's basic infantry unit they're equivalent to the American Riflemen and the Soviet Motostrelki they have their basic Assault Rifle which is the kbk AKM, their Anti Tank Weapon the RPG, and their Light Machine gun the PKM they come in a assortment of Vehicles like the OT-64 SKOT-2AM, the OT-62 TOPAS-2AP, BWP-1, and BWP-2D.
