Ratel ZT3-A1 is a South African Tank Destroyer that appears in Wargame Red Dragon as part of the South African DLC.

History[]

To replace Ratel 90 being used as light tanks instead of the intended Fire Support Role and it 90mm gun wasn't effective at range at taking out more modern tanks being introduced to the Africa battlefield, Ratel ZT3-A1 were created to serve as the Tank Destroyer role.

The ZT3 Ingwe (Leopard) was developed by Denel Dynamics as a replacement for the aging Milan ATGMs that served at the time. Being placed on Ratel IFVs in 3 launcher slots, the missiles were used in Operation Moduler with the first four Ratel ZT3-A1 being used by 32 Battalion during the South African Border War and with good effect on targets.

After the war, Denel would go to lengths in improving the ATGM's range, accuracy and reliability with warhead effectiveness.

These served in the anti-tank platoons of the mechanized battlegroups.

32 Battalion has one of their anti-tank troop equipped with four Ratel-ZT3
