The Reservistes are a reserve type infantry that was made available to France in Wargame: AirLand Battle.
History[]
France was organized into 6 Military Regions which parallel Defence Regions and Gendarmarie regions. These Military Region has various second line formations assigned.
Most French regiments has conscripts. After the French conscripts complete their 12 months military obligation service are placed in the First class reserve to reinforce the field army formations. After four years the conscripts were moved to second class reserve to form out the reserve regiments of the Military Region.
The mixed infantry regiment of the Armored division has a reservist company mounted on trucks.
There were plans for each military region to create regiment interarmees divisionnaire which has a Armored car company along with three infantry companies who were planed to defense French territory from airborne and commando attack.
MAS-49/56 was the improved MAS-49 from lessons learned in Algeria, Indochina, and the Suez Crisis. This rife was shorten and lighten for mechanized and airborne troops along with combination compensator/rifle grenade launcher.
