The Rooikat 76 Mk1C is a Cavalry tank that appears in Wargame Red Dragon as part of the South African DLC.
History[]
After the Operation Askari in which Angolan tank formations threated mechanized and motorized South African infantry formation in which Ratel-90 and Eland-90 were not effective due to their shorter range and non stabilized weapon against the Angolan armor.
After seven contenders one was chosen as Rooikat with production starting in September 1987. Rooikat MK1C was the fourth lot of Rooikat produced, These were used by the 1 Special Service Battalion along with reserve force Armored Car Regiments. Mechanized Battlegroup had a squadron of armored cars.
