Royal Marine '90 is a later era United Kingdom marine elite infantry that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

In the late 1980s, Royal Marine switch from Rifle gun teams to equal fireteams using the L85/L86. LAW 80 replaced LAW 66 and Carl Gustav in British Service.

Overview[]
The Royal Marines '90 are a 35 point commando infantry unit available to the United Kingdom in Wargame Red Dragon, and they are essentially an upgraded variant of the standard Royal Marines, and, for the most part, they are essentially the same, but with updated weapons. They are the most expensive infantry squadron available to the UK (tied with the SAS) and they're worth it, their high accuracy combined with their effective weaponry makes them a threat to nearly any target, their main advantage over their standard counterparts being the LAW 80, an advanced AT rocket that fires a round every 3 seconds, does 22 AP damage, and with an accuracy of 70%, making it a threat to any tank that makes the mistake of getting too close. They also posses the L85 and Minimi, which provide excellent anti-infantry capability. (relative to most infantry squads) Whilst they do possess excellent AT and anti infantry capabilities, the Royal Marines '90 do have a few weaknesses. Firstly, the LAW 80 has a range of only 700 m, meaning, that like most infantry squadrons, it must hide until a tank gets into range, or risk being wiped out running towards it whilst out in the open. Secondly, whilst it can beat nearly any other infantry squadron, it is nearly impossible for it to defeat a Spetsnaz unit, which posses a napalm rocket that can cause sever harm to the Royal Marines. Finally, it is weak against any form of aircraft, it only has its assault rifle and SAW to deal with helicopters, and even then only at short range, and it has no way to target jets. As such, it is best to pair the Royal Marines with an SAS Squadron, allowing the Royal Marines to deal with infantry (with light support from the SAS) whilst letting the SAS to knock out incoming aircraft with their stingers.
