The SASF is a Commando Squad available in Wargame Red Dragon as part of the South African DLC.

History[]

Reconnaissance Commandos better known as Recces were the South African Special Forces. These troops were given any weapon available domestic, secretly imported despite the UN embargo, or even captured from the enemy. One of the more famous missions was to disrupt Angolan air force by shooting down aircraft.

Vektor R5 was a licenced production of 5.56 mm Galil SAR. LRAC F1 was the standard South African section anti-tank weapon. During the Border War, South Africa captured Strela-2M.

Overview[]

SASF can be said to be an enhanced FJB-40 with better cost-effectiveness. The Assault Rifle Vektor R5 has superior Stabilizer and RPM compared to MPi-AK-74N (though ammo is only half of the latter); The LAW LRAC F1 outperformed RPG-7V in all aspects; While the Accuracy of Strela-2M is lower than FJB-40's new models.

However, it should be noticed that the Transport Helicopters SASF can access only armed with MGs, which is far weaker from Gunship types like THS Mi-24D that professional airborne troops can get.
