Mechanized Infantry Division has 6 infantry battalions mounted in KM113/K200 and KM900. The Corp level Armored Brigade has a Infantry Battalion equipped with K200 or BMP-3. The South Korean infantry Squad of 1977 to 1987 were made up of 10 men with Squad lead, Vice Squad Lead, two automatic riflemen equipped with M16A1 fitted with bipod, a Grenadier equipped with M16A1 with M203 and five riflemen. M60s were a platoon asset in the a fire support squad with 2 M60 GPMG and company asset in Fire Support Platoon with two machine gun squads. LAW was a company assets.
Overview[]
Armed identically to US Riflemen, Sochong-su are fairly par for the course in terms of line infantry. They lack in DPS versus infantry, and their anti-tank weapon, the M72 LAW, is unreliable in terms of both accuracy and AP power. They can destroy light armored vehicles, but will struggle against sturdier high-end IFVs and APCs. Their greatest asset, however, is their availability and low cost, but keeping in mind that Sochong-su '85 are identically priced and have virtually identical availability in all transports but the KM113 and have far superior transport options. Sochong-su '75 are obsolescent in non-Category C decks.
