The Super Étendard SEM is a French ground attack aircraft available to French decks. It was introduced in Wargame: Red Dragon.
History[]
The Super Étendard SEM is a single-engine, single-seat naval fighter used by the French Navy, and is an upgrade of the baseline Super Étendard. Starting in the 1990's, an upgrade program was initiated to modernize the Super Étendard, called Super Étendard Modernisé, or SEM. The SEM featured a significantly improved radar with more than double the range of that carried on the original Super Étendard, new avionics and HOTAS cockpit, and work to extend airframe life. The SEM also was made compatible with the Air-Sol Moyenne Portée ramjet powered air-launched nuclear cruise missile. The SEM variants of the Super Étendard first saw combat starting in 1999 with Operation Allied Force.

Red Dragon[]
The Super Étendard SEM is a prototype strike platform available to French and EUROCORPS decks. It is largely the exact same aircraft as the Super Etendard from AirLand Battle, but with improved ECM and the addition of cannons. In Red Dragon, the baseline Super Étendard was repurposed as an anti-shipping aircraft. The SEM is a 120-point ground attack aircraft which carries two AS30L missiles. The type is best used for specialized strikes against high-value, low-number targets. Its ECM is of good strength, making the type more survivable against SAMs and AAMs, but a fighter escort should be considered if enemy air activity is anticipated, as the Super Étendard SEM carries no AAM compliment.
