The UAZ-469 is a Soviet ground recon vehicle available for PACT forces that introduced in Wargame: European Escalation. It is the basis of the UAZ family.
History[]
The UAZ-469 was introduced in 1973, replacing the earlier GAZ-69. The UAZ-469 presented two great advantages: It was able to drive in virtually any terrain and it was very easy to fix. The UAZ-469 reached legendary status for its reliability and off-road ability. The vehicle was not available for purchase by the public, but many were sold as surplus to private owners.
Overview and tactics[]
- A fast, small and cheap vehicle, the UAZ-469 and its variants afford a good scout unit capable to bring a line of sight to a taskforce while staying hidden due its size.
- Being unarmed and lacking any kind of armour or large HP, the UAZ best defenses are its speed and low profile, allowing PACT commanders to deploy them unnoticed behind enemy lines in order to spot enemy formation.
- Using forests for heavy cover give the UAZs an excellent stealth advantage, however, this means sacrificing the mobility of these vehicles as they are wheeled and suffer heavy penalties in forest terrain.
European Escalation[]
- While quite cheap, the UAZ-469 still costs 30 points, the same as 2 T-55, care is recommended in order to avoid losing those points for no real good reason.
