VBL is a French Armored Recon that appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

The VBL (Véhicule Blindé Léger, which means light armored vehicle in French) is a scout car used in the French Army. The VBL program started in 1978 when the French Army was looking for a scout vehicle that could work with the AMX-10RC and the M201 jeep being obsolete. The only thing the car needed was a single machine gun or having an ATGM on the car, while also fitting it with small arms fire and NBC hazards protection. Models would then be built by 1985 and the Mexican Army being the first purchaser of these vehicles. The vehicle is mostly operated by African and Middle Eastern countries.

These were used in the Cavalry Regiment replacing P4. The Tank regiments in 2000s were given VBL like the Cavalry counterparts with originally three Leclerc MBTs and VBL in the tank platoon then currently increased to four Leclerc MBTs and VBLs.
