The W-3 Sokół is a Polish attack helicopter.

In Wargame: AirLand Battle, the W-3 Sokół is classified as a prototype attack helicopter, armed with modern twin 23mm autocannons, two rocket pods and four Strela-3 or Igla anti-aircraft missiles.

History[]

Planned as a joint Soviet-Polish program, the W-3's development started as far back as 1970. However, the USSR soon reduce their commitment to the project, leaving Poland to lead the project from 1976.

Inspired by the Mil Mi-2, designed in USSR but produced in Poland since the 60's, a brand new design was drafted by Polish engineer. A first prototype is tested in late 1979, with four others in the following years, while USSR definitely leaves the project in 1980.

In 1985, the W-3W Sokół ("Falcon", hence the winged hussars) is finally accepted into service in Poland and production slowly starts. W-3W Sokół was the armed variant of the W-3.
