Yas'ur Nimrod is a prototype Israeli Transport Helicopter that appears in Nation Pack: Israel DLC of Wargame: Red Dragon.

Overview[]

The Yas'ur Nimrod is a highly unusual transport helicopter for one simple reason - it comes packing a quartet of outrageously powerful air-to-surface missiles in place of one of its fuel pods. One glance at the Nimrod missile's statistics is enough to discern the tremendous killing power the Yas'ur Nimrod can bring into play. It will one-shot just about any armoured fighting vehicle, and given how it tends to come with special forces infantry and thus bears the Elite promotion (proferring a +32% increase to accuracy on top of its 70% to-hit probability), anything it sees is more or less guaranteed to die.

Paired with the keen eyes of a Maglan, one of the two infantry types it can come with (the other being Shayetet 13), the Yas'ur Nimrod is probably the single best superheavy tank-killer in the entire game, short of a ground-attack jet. It can additionally outrange RADAR-guided gun AA, such as the ZSU-23-4MZ Biryusa, and can even take on the 2K22M Tunguska if the player operating the latter isn't paying attention. If playing against Israel, it is for this reason that one is strongly advised to bring the 9K330 Tor or the HQ-7 in their anti-air arsenal.

Such a fearsome groundpounder has a few additional weaknesses. Compared to its more conventional tank-hunter counterpart, the Peten, the Nimrods are rather lacking in ammo - the pilot will have to quickly retreat back to the FOB if dealing with large formations of armour, like the hordes of T-72s that AIs are so fond of. Second and perhaps most pertinently is the Yas'ur's massive size: just as it will most likely kill anything it sees, anything that sees it - and can hit it - will most likely kill it. The greatest foes of the Yas'ur Nimrod are Tors, HQ-7s (and their equivalents) and fighter jets. Attaining air superiority is strongly recommended before deploying the Yas'ur to maximum effect.
