Ystervark is a South African Anti-Aircraft Artillery that first appears in Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

Before the development of the Ystervark, South Africa had to use towed air defense guns which was not useable for the mobile warfare, Ystervark was a merger of two programs first was Bulldog which was one of prototypes created from Project Sireb a attempt to replace Buffalos and second mechanization of GAI-CO1 20 mm anti-aircraft gun. Bulldog was a mine-protected vehicle based of the chassis of SAMIL 20 these were used by SAAF as an APC for use in airfield patrols. Ystervark were created by removing the passenger tub with a weapon deck mounting a GAI-CO1 using a optical sight.

These were used by the Mechanized Battalion Groups in troop strength of 6 vehicles detached from 6th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment or 10th Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

These were replaced by Bosvark.
