The Zelda (Hebrew: זלדה) is a Israeli Armored Personnel Carrier that appears in Nation Pack: Israel DLC of Wargame: Red Dragon.

History[]

Zelda (זלדה) is a Hebrew female name that be said to have the meaning of "Happiness"; This is a nickname used by Israeli soldiers in the early days for M113, but it is reportedly very rare now. Some soldiers who served around 2000 said they had never heard of Zelda.[1]

The up-armored "Zelda" here in game and many English materials, is a upgraded Bardelas with additional spaced armor named "Toga" suite which is perforated carbon-steel plates. The suite itself is known as "Vayzata (ויזתא)".[2][3]

As Bardelas had poor protection against anti armor threats. Before the operation Peace for Galilee an up armored suite for M113 was developed using spaced steel armor. But the spaced steel armor was too heavy creating a decline in performance. The Vayzata suite developed by Rafael Inc. is stronger and lighter (about 800kg) than the original armour suite, capable of withstanding 14.5mm bullets.

Overview[]

As mentioned above, Zelda is an up-armored Bardelas with Front/Side Armor becoming 2, while the cost and weapons remain the same, but at the expense of speed decreasing from 70KPH to 55KPH, which is relatively poor.
